News

Hello and welcome to FerrariStuff.com!

Let me start with introducing myself. My name is Jack, an avid collector of “anything Ferrari and racing”.

For the past 16 years we have been supplying the Ferrari world, ranging from private literature collectors, car owners, Ferrari dealerships, auctionhouses to museums, with a wealth of collectible Ferrari items, mainly documents, vintage photographs, brochures, owners manuals and autographed items.

On this page, I will keep you informed about changes to FerrariStuff.com itself and the website.

For our latest arrivals, you can of course consult THIS PAGE.

March 2013

Busy, busy, busy!
A recent buying spree gave us LOTS of highly interesting pages as will be keeping us busy for the coming time! :-D

June 2012

We'll try to give you a glimpse in our "kitchen" and show you what it takes to put an article on the website, taking your through the individual steps.

Most recently, we acquired a number of factory-fresh, fairly recent Ferrari owners manuals. After inspecting them for their condition, we'll decide which one to tackle first:
We'll try to give you a glimpse in our "kitchen" and show you what it takes to put an article on the website, taking your through the individual steps.
As there are a number of individuals that rob the images from our website, we have decided that no images that are our own work are published without the FerrariStuff.com branding on it, so also the above image was branded so that it can not be abused.

After much delibration (I simply liked that one best! hahaha!), I decided to go for the GTO manual first...
Since the weather is absolutely beautiful, I'm taking advantage of the natural light and shot the photos outside my office.

Of course the cover first:
Ferrari 599 GTO Owners Manual
Then a somewhat respresentative page of the "inside":
Ferrari 599 GTO Owners Manual
and a shot of the rear cover:
Ferrari 599 GTO Owners Manual
and this last shot immediately shows a problem... it has a small fold in the lower left corner... pity... as I paid full price for it and it still has to be sold so I have no choice to process it as normal but discount it considerably... there goes the profit on this one!

On to determining which manual it is exactly...
The print reference in the back of the manual shows ths to be print number 3693/10, a first edition dating from May 2010 and in Spanish language:
Ferrari 599 GTO Owners Manual

Nest step? Getting rid of that horrible background!

Removing the background is quite a tedious process... it's done "by hand" on the screen... first a small "cut" around the outline of the manual... it's hardly visible in the screenshot below... but the first "cut" has been made...

By gradually increasing the width of the digital paint brush and after several times repeating the process, this is what we have:

There is now room enough to cut the rest of the back off.
Next we have to make some corrections to the image to compensate for the lighting and the camera and to bring it as close to the real thing as possible. After some tweaking, we have this end result... still around 4 times bigger than what we can use on the website... but this is how we keep it in our digital files, also for future reference:

The last step is to reduce the image in size so that it fits on the website and find a balance between download time and server space while maintaining good detail. Putting the FerrariStuff logo over it completes the process

This has to be repeated for the photo of the rear cover and the inside...

Creating the thumbnail image completes the "imagery":

To be continued!

January 2012

All the best wishes for 2012 from us all at FerrariStuff!

We had hardly realized it but 2012 is a celebration year for us... it is exactly 15 years ago that we moved from collecting Ferrari Memorabilia to actually selling the doubles that we had "in stock". We went to the largest online auction site, which we didn't find a particulary nice place to do business, but it was a start and right from the beginning we choose the name "FerrariStuff" as it encompasses exactly that what we were, and still are, dealing in. We have long given up selling on auction sites but we maintained the name.

Two years later, in 1999, we created the domain and in 2001, after some legal hassle, we obtained the official approval of Ferrari s.p.a. to trade under this name, making clear that we are NOT affiliated with them and trading on our own account (which we do of course).

Thank you for 15 years of patronage!

2011
We just completed the switch to our new shipping policy. In the past, we have always offered free shipping to all our customers... as a token of appreciation for their business. However, the free shipping did not include insurance nor a track & trace possibility and this sometimes backfired on us...
As of today, ALL our shipments will ONLY go by TNT Priority Mail, insured and with Track & Trace. Unfortunately, this does not come for free anymore. There is now a charge of US$ 32,50 per shipment (regardless of weight, volume or value) which is the lowest actual cost for this shipping method. Is your shipment bulky or very heavy? Than we will absorb the overage, still as a token of appreciation for your business!
We aim to have your shipment packaged and ready to go with 48 hours.
When your shipment leaves our premises, we will notify you and on average the day after that you will receive the tracking code and a link to the TNT website with which you can follow the progress of your shipment.

We have been monitoring the transit times with this shipping method since February 2010 and are keeping track of them on THIS PAGE. We will try to constantly update that page.
With implementing this new policy, we trust that we can serve you even better and offer you peace of mind about the whereabouts of your shipment.

Happy holidays from us all at FerrariStuff!

A mere 16 days after we broke through the 1,000 pages mark, we have now gone over 1,100 pages! Not all new arrivals of course but reworking the websites creates more pages for the individual products.
We are also working on the next issue of the newsletter so watch out for that one! Not subscribed yet? You can do so on THIS PAGE.

We have opened our "Showcase" department. In this department you will find the Ferrari items which are of particular historical interest, extremely rare or unique or simply highly interesting. As these items are quite expensive by nature, all items in the showcase with a price on request. You can find the Ferrari Showcase HERE.

YES! We have broken through the 1.000 mark! That is more than 1.000 pages within the website, filled to the brim with Ferrari memorabilia. Watch this space as we continue to work on the website.

Again following input from our customers and visitors, we have split the enormously long Brochures page up in decades as it took way too long to load as a single page.

We now have the following pages in place:

Ferrari Brochures & Sales Literature 1949 - 1959

Ferrari Brochures & Sales Literature 1960 - 1969

Ferrari Brochures & Sales Literature 1970 - 1979

Ferrari Brochures & Sales Literature 1980 - 1989

Ferrari Brochures & Sales Literature 1990 - 1999

Ferrari Brochures & Sales Literature 2000 - 2010
We hope that this will enhance your visit to our website.

Following input from our customers and visitors, we are now displaying the most recent addition to the website on the front page of the website.

That means bye-bye to the iconic photo of the crashed Ferrari 500TR of Pierre Meyrat at Le Mans 1956 and hello new arrival!

Please, keep the input coming so that we can make www.FerrariStuff.com an even better place for the Ferrari collector. We can be contacted through the "Contact Page".

Lately, it has come to our attention that many of the images on our website, which we “produce” ourselves, are being abused by malicious sellers on internet auction sites. To prevent this from happening again, we are now branding all our images with the text “www.FerrariStuff.com” superimposed on them. I realize that this doesn’t make things prettier but unfortunately, it has proven to be a necessary evil… The branding will be done on a rolling change basis, i.e. as time and resources permit.

While we are going about branding the images, we are also taking the opportunity to “redo” a lot of the images. So far, we have often used the scanner to scan the cover of, for example, brochures and owners manuals. From now on, we are switching to photography, also of the inside of the items, so that you can get a better impression of the actual item on offer. As this is a time consuming process, this will also be on a “rolling change” basis.

I have been running FerrariStuff.com for nearly 12 years now and, as some of our regular visitors might know, I have a couple of very rough years behind me.

I would like to thank some very good friends, efficient personnel and last, but certainly not least, my partner-in-life Charlotte. I am more or less back on my feet again thanks to them. Thank you guys and girls, for keeping the company afloat while I was “down and out”!

Also a word of thanks to the new friends that I have made in recent times (you know who you are…). Even if I didn’t always like, in first instance, what you said, your words have inspired me to go about FerrariStuff.com with new zest.

So, back to business it is!

Events

October 30 – 31, 2010

Houten – The Netherlands

Auto Moto Italia

One of the few events in The Netherlands that caters for “all things Italian”, from food & drink to parts, memorabilia and cars.

Since I was there both days, I had the opportunity to catch up with loads of old friends, customers and dealers.
Ferrari 348 by Ton Pret

It’s good to be back again!

October 21 – 24, 2010
Padova – Italy
Auto e moto d’epoca Fair / Autojumble

What a MASSIVE fair! It almost dwarfs the Beaulieu Autojumble!

Had the opportunity talk to a lot of old acquaintances and colleagues.
Very high prices but lots of rare and desirable items and of course beautiful cars for sale.

 Maserati A6 1500

I can’t help it but I found this Maserati A6 1500 one of the most attractive cars that was on offer at Padova.
