This is a fantastic vintage and original autographed photo of the great Tazio Nuvolari at the start of the Pontedecimo - Giovi hillclimb on 28 June, 1931.

"Nuvola", or "The flying Mantuan" as he was also called, drove the semi-factory Scuderia Ferrari entered Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 and took the overall win and of course 1st in class (together with Pietro Ghersi).

It is a rather small photo which measures some 11 x 6.75 cm including the ragged edge. The size in inches is approximately 4.25 x 4.75.

The back carries the purple stamp of the photographer plus some penciled annotations.

Tazio won the race ahead of his team mate Baconin Borzacchino, also on 8C-2300 and Louis Chiron / Achille Varzi who shared a factory Bugatti Type 51. Tazio also set the fastest lap with exactly 52 minutes & 56.6 seconds, a feat that is also noted on the back of this card in handwriting (although it is rounded up to 53 minutes). The front erroneously shows "1933".

Auto Avio Costruzioni Worksheet 1940

AACWS
!

1940 Auto Avio Costruzioni Worksheet.

This is an absolute rarity!

It is a worksheet from "Auto Avio Costruzzioni, Enzo Ferrari, Modena".

When Enzo Ferrari left Alfa Romeo, he had to sign a clause which forbid him to be active in motor racing under his own name. Since Enzo still wanted to follow his passion, he founded Auto Avio Costruzzioni or AAC which in 1947 would form the basis of the modern Ferrari company as we still know it today.

Very thin gauge blue-ish paper with printed AAC logo complete with prancing horse in the left top corner. Header in the top right corner and two columns on the rest of the page headed "Causale" (Cause) and "Esito" (Outcome).

Good condition for age but does show a degree of yellowing due to age on the borders and minor fraying at the edges.

When was the last time you saw one of these for sale?

Guaranteed to be an original.

It measures approximately 9 x 11 inches.

Only 1 available.

Price on request through info@ferraristuff.com.

1948 Tazio Nuvolari signed Letter

nuvolari03
!
1948 Tazio Nuvolari signed Letter

1948 Tazio Nuvolari signed Letter with envelope.

What a fantastic piece this is!

Apparently, Tazio was doing very well in the immediate post-war era as apparently he had lend a sum of money to a Mr. Pighi in Castel d'Ario (a village some 11 miles from Tazio's home in Mantova, Italy) and apparently the legal interest rate had been raised on December 23, 1947 and on January 30, 1948 Tazio sent this letter (registered with return receipt!) to Mr. Pighi informing him that he will be held to pay the increased interest rate.

HIGHLY interesting!

Tazio signed it in full in black ink.

It is in excellent condition and comes complete with the original envelope.

1950 Targa Florio Advertising Poster - Vintage Original

TF1950poster
!

1950 Targa Florio Advertising Poster - Vintage Original.

This is a great VINTAGE poster for the 34th running of the Targa Florio / 10th running of the Giro di Sicilia.

It urges you to buy the race program which is available at every news stand and costs a mere 30 Lira.

It is printed on very thin paper and is in excellent condition bar a small tear at the top (visible in the scan) and two tape marks from being displayed in 1950. Folded as original but stored flat for decades.

Maybe the only one left in the world?

The race was won by Mario & Franco Bornigia on Alfa Romeo 8C-2500 Sperimentale.

Second place was for Inico Bernabei & Tulio Pacini on Ferrari 166 MM (S/N 0036M) which survives to this day) while third place went to Baron Stefano La Motta (would get killed the next year at the same event...) & Gennaro Alterio on Ferrari 166 S (S/N 0011S) which was scrapped after La Motta was killed in it).

The poster measures some 69 x 50 cm or 28 x 20 inches and was printed in Palermo (where else?).

Original 1951 Vintage Ferrari 30 Anni Di Esperienze Brochure Merritt Page 69

M-69
!

1951 Ferrari 30 Anni Di Esperienze Brochure.

I have seen this brochure being called "The Holy Grail of Ferrari Brochures"... Maybe that is a little bit over the top but how many of you have actually seen one of these, let alone have it in your collection?

We are very proud to be able to offer this very good (yet fragile!) example of this VERY scarce and famous brochure.

The brochure elaborates on the 3 models that Ferrari produced in those days:

and next to a good number of drawings, including the famous "photo" of Jim Kimberly, it lists engine and chassis details.

It unfolds to 4 double-sided panes and is in full color.

It is in very good condition, but as mentioned above, has fragile seams of which one has split.

Remember... the Ferrari company as such was only 3 years old at that time yet Enzo was using his experience as race team manger at Alfa Romeo and ownership of Auto Avio Costruzzioni to boost the reputation of Ferrari as a car maker.

Language: Italian

Merritt reference: Page 69.

This is of course a vintage original and we only have 1 available.

Vintage 1950's Alberto Ascari business card

ascari02
!

This is a vintage early 1950's Alberto Ascari business card with his personal adress at 60, Corsa Sempione, Milano, Italy.

Alberto is one of the most famous Ferrari racing personalities of the 1950's, having been crowned Formula 1 worldchampion 1952 (winning ALL 6 races in Europe, his attempt at the Indy 500 failed after 40 laps...) and 1953 and is 1 of only 2 Italian Formula One Worldchampions.

Alberto also won the 1954 Mille Miglia.

One of his most famous moments is probably the 1955 Monaco Grand Prix where he launched his Lancia D50 into the Monaco harbour!

One week later, May 26, 1955, while testing a Ferrari sports car at Monza, he crashed fatally at the Curva di Vialone which would later be renamed the "Variante Ascari" in his honour.

This business card measures some 10.5 x 7 inches (approximately 4 x 3 inches), is in good condition for its age (bar 2 staple holes) and carries the handwritten text "Ringraziando Vi contraccambio vivamente" which roughly translates into "I kindly thank you in return".

1954 Enzo Ferrari signed contract with Maurice Trintignant

enzo15

Vintage 1954 GOLD medal, awarded to Mike Hawthorn, 1954 Grand Prix of Syracuse

Hawthorn04
!

1954 Gold Medal, Syracuse Grand Prix, awarded to Mike Hawthorn.

We are pleased to be able to offer for sale this absolutely unique piece of motoring history:

This medal was given to Mike Hawthorn for competing in the 1954 Syracuse Grand Prix.

Mike drove a Ferrari 625 in this Grand Prix which he crashed and he sustained serious burns to his arms and legs in this accident.

This is what Road & Track wrote about the accident in 1954:

"....Marimon in a Maserati drove too close to the right side of the track and sent up a shower of hay. Blinded by the flying chaff, the second place car, a Ferrari with Hawthorn driving, crashed against the safety wall and the car caught fire. Gonzales, about seven feet behind Hawthorn, piled into the Englishman's car, careened and went into the wall. Both cars were destroyed by the flames and Hawthorn was taken to the hospital....".

Shown below is a photo from R&T of the scene of the accident.

This medal went straight from Mike's estate, in 1959, to an important collector in Switzerland from whom we acquired it directly.

A truly unique opportunity to acquire a piece of memorabilia from Hawthorn's personal possession.

Measures approximately 1.25 inches in diameter and is made of 18 carat gold.

1957 Luigi Musso signed Ferrari Postcard

1957 Luigi Musso signed Ferrari Postcard!

A GREAT item of this gentleman-driver who died at the wheel of his Ferrari Dino 246 while battling it out with his team mate Mike Hawthorn in the opening stages of the 1958 French Grand Prix at Reims race track.

This is an official Ferrari factory issued postcard (issued in 1957) which is already VERY scarce by itself (and hence expensive!) but it is also signed by "Luigino" himself in blue biro making it a prime collector's item!

At some point in time this card has been stuck in an album from which it has been removed and it has some damage to the rear from the glue unfortunately which is visible in the scan.

Vintage 1958 Plaque, given to Mike Hawthorn, 1958 Grand Prix of Portugal

Hawthorn05
!

1958 Plaque, Portugal Grand Prix, given to Mike Hawthorn.

We are pleased to be able to offer for sale this fabulous piece of motoring history:

This plaque was given to Mike Hawthorn for competing in the 1958 Portugal Grand Prix at Porto race track.

Mike drove a Ferrari 246 and set the second fastest qualifying time behind Stirling Moss in his Vanwall. During the race, Mike set the fastest lap time (almost 2 seconds faster than Moss's pole time!) but still came in second after Moss.

This was of course all in Mike's Championship Winning year and it was the second to last time that Mike would race in a Grand Prix...

This is what Mike said after the race:

"I was upset to find that my race number was 22. Both Pete [Collins] and Luigi [Musso] had been killed on cars with 2 as their number, and the sight of 22 on mine really put the wind up me. I rushed off to Tavoni and asked if I might have 24, which was Taffy's number, and he and Taffy both agreed; only the numbers were changed, not the actual cars."

This medal went straight from Mike's estate, in 1959, to an important collector from whom we acquired it.

A truly unique opportunity to acquire a piece of memorabilia from Hawthorn's personal possession.

It measures approximately 3.4 x 1.5 inches.

Only 1 pc. available.

The handwritten text on the back reads "Grazie 12/5/63" and is signed by Enzo in his characteristic violet ink.

1964 Bill of sale, bill of lading etc. on Ferrari 250LM S/N 5901

5901-01
!

This is a set of documents pertaining to # 5901 Ferrari 250LM.

The set consists of the following documents:

1)
Bill of sale (invoice) from SEFAC Ferrari to Luigi Chinetti Motors Inc, dated November 14, 1964. The invoice specifies the car as follows:

"FERRARI" 250 Le Mans automobile, bodied Competition Berlinetta, complete with five wire wheels and tires, set of tools - ENGINE No 5901 CHASSIS No 5901
Color: China Red
Upholstery: Blue

F.O.B. Genoa
Including a crate with 4 sprare wheels
Including a carton with spare parts such as valves, valve springs, gaskets etc.

The prices have been erased probably because this invoice has been "living" with the car for quite a while and somebody didn't want everybody to know what Chinetti paid for the car to Ferrari.

It is stamped "Copia", a long declaration + "SEFAC S.p.a." and carries a signature. It comes on original Ferrari invoice letterhead.

2)
The second document is the original bill of lading for this car.

It is dated November 16, 1964 and shows that the car traveled on the "Maria Costa" to New York. Pier of loading was Leghorn. The car weighed in at 950 KGS, the crate was 34 KGS and the carton with spare parts was 10 KGS.

It is stamped in red "ORIGINAL".

3)
The third document is the shipping notice from SEFAC to Luigi Chinetti Motors.

It comes on SEFAC letterhead, is dated November 20, 1964 and advises Chinetti that car # 5901 has been shipped from Livorno on the M/N Maria Costa on November 20, 1964 and that it concerns the "Ferrari tipo 250/LM telaio No 5901".

Has handwritten "5901" in black fountain pen ink on it, purple stamp "No 35790", purple "SEFAC S.p.A." stamp and is signed in blue fountain pen ink.

4)
The fourth document is the original "Vehicle invoice" from "Kirk F. White Motorcars Inc." in Philadelphia, PA to William (Bill) B Rearden Jr. in Villanova, PA.

It is dated June 29, 1970 and shows that Bill Rearden paid $ 16,500.00 for the car and traded in his Ferrari 330P S/N 0822 for $ 12,000.00.

The invoice carrier number "0333) and has a handwritten note from Kirk White on it that says "Addl $ 10.00 Tag Fee Paid K.W.".

5)
The fifth items is a set of period Xexox copies of the SEFAC invoice, the shipping notice, the Kirk White invoice plus another small Xerox copy on pinkish paper that lists a number of the owners:

Raymond J. Augusterfer from Philadelphia, PA
George Arents from Warren, Vermont
Luigi Chinetti Motors Inc.
Walter G. Young

After Walter Young, the car went to Kirk White who sold it to Bill Rearden.

This last document lists the car as being a "275 LM" but does mention the correct chassis number "5901".

We are entertaining sensible offers on this set that reflect the historical importance of these documents.

We can be contacted at info@FerrariStuff.com.

Only 1 set available.

1967 Pedro Rodriguez Protos F2 Enna Crash Steering Wheel

rodriguezp02
!

1967 Pedro Rodriguez Protos F2 Enna Crash - Steering Wheel.

Here we have a VERY special and TOTALLY unique item albeit not of Ferrari origin but since Pedro Rodriguez was such a prominent Ferrari personality, we felt it was appropriate to feature this item here.

In the 1967 season, it was quite normal for hot-shot Formula 1 drivers to also compete in the Formula 2 championship and so did Pedro Rodriguez eventhough he was a Cooper works F1 driver at that time.

On August the 20th, 1967 Pedro drove the Ron Harris entered Protos Cosworth F2 in the "Gran Premio del Mediterraneo" at the Enna track on Sicily.

The Protos F2 was quite a special car which was designed by Frank Costin with a chassis that was largely made of wood and which featured an enclosed cockpit!

During the race, Pedro was battling it out with Jean-Pierre Beltoise for second place, lost it and crashed the car heavily, thus smashing it to matchwood!

According to the person that salvaged this steering wheel from the wreck, it was, apart from the engine(!), the largest surviving part of the car!

During the crash, Pedro was launched from the car, still strapped in his seat and so passed leader Jackie Stewart who later stated that he had never been challenged for the lead in a race by someone without a car...

Amazingly enough, Pedro only suffered a broken heel in this massive crash.

Ray Buckley, who was the team mechanic at the Ron Harris racing team salvaged the steering wheel and later, when he was employed by the Hesketh F1 team, passed it on to David Phelbs who had it mounted as presented and offered for sale now.

The steering wheel gives a good impression of how massive this shunt must have been....

The front of this mounting shows of course this very original steering wheel, a photo of Pedro and a caption.

The rear shows the declaration of David Phelbs and how he got to this steering wheel + a copy of an interview with Pedro on this shunt.

Along with it comes an original copy "Autosport" with a write up on the race and the accident.

Truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire such a unique item in such unmolested condition (after all, this is how it came out of the crash!) with such excellent provenance.

Only 1 available.

Original 1967 Lorenzo Bandini Death Notice Obituary Card

bandini03
!

This is an extremely scarce Item.

This is an ORIGINAL Death Notice card of Lorenzo Bandini.

Only a few selected friends of the family received this card in 1967.

Lorenzo was Enzo Ferrari's "Golden Boy" in the 1960's and is even rumoured to be the cause of the break-up between Ferrari and John Surtees.

Lorenzo died after having suffered severe burns to his body during his horrible crash in the 1967 Monaco Grand Prix at the age of 31. Lorenzo drove a Ferrari 312 when he lost control over the car in the chicane after which the car caught fire. Lorenzo died three days later in hospital.

It measures approximately 20.5 x 10.5 cm or 8.5 x 4 inches and opens up to 20.5 x 21 cm or 8.5 x 8 inches.

1968 Scaglietti Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Body Parts Catalog Blueprints.

A VERY rare catalog as these were issued by Carrozzeria Scaglietti and not by the Ferrari Technical department (although they were made with the consent of Ferrari of course)!

Contrary to the mechanical parts catalogs which can still be found, the body parts catalog is as rare as hen's teeth! Who of you has ever seen obe of these?

All the pages are blueprints (at that time still a common way of "copying" larger format drawings) and carry the Ferrari logo on the back.

The set consists of a total of 26 pages with drawings and parts listings.

Each page measures some 45 x 30 cm or 18 x 12 inches.

Very, VERY rare indeed!

Language: Italian.

Only 1 pc. available.

1968 Ronnie Peterson signed letter Formula 3

A truely unique, and very early, piece of Ronnie Peterson (1944 - 1978) memorabilia !

Ronnie sent this letter, on his personal letterhead, on August 28, 1968 to the Automobile Club of Milano Italy, applying for a Formula 3 race which would take place on September 22, 1968 at Monza race track, only a good year before he would move into Formula One.

The left, blue, bar shows his achievements between 1962 and 1966 in racing and on the bottom a three pictures of Ronnie racing in various classes, including karting.

The second page shows his achievements in Formula 3 in 1967 and 1968.

The letter is of course signed by Ronnie himself.

Tragically, Ronnie would die of his injuries sustained at the starting grid pile-up during the 1978 Italian Grand Prix at that very same Monza circuit...

TRUELY UNIQUE!

The letter measures some 21 x 30 cm or 8 x 12 inches.

Newly arrived 1982 Ferrari Notiziario Press Release on the Grand Prix of Belgium at Zolder Gilles Villeneuve Fatal Crash

Vintage 1982 Ferrari press release on the Grand Prix of Belgium held at Zolder.

This is a rather sad document that Ferrari issued prior to the Belgium Grand Prix in which Gilles Villeneuve would so sadly perish in qualifying in his Ferrari 126.

This rather simple, but highly original, document was issued to the press and informs about Ferrari's view of this race, which cars they brought (including a 126/C2 "scorta" or "t-car") and a map of the track including Gilles' shifting points. Of course, it also mentions Didier Pironi.

Little did everybody know what a dramatic turn of events would take place here...

This is the only one we have ever had of this particular race and we are inviting serious offers on it through info@ferraristuff.com.

1 Sheet, double sided.

Factory original issue.

Only 1 available in Italian language.

Excellent condition.

Ferrari Enzo Documents Pouch.

This is a SUPER rare manuals & documents pouch for the Enzo Ferrari.

As far as we know, only a VERY small surplus of these pouches was produced and they are so rare that they don't carry a parts number in Ferrari's parts system and consequently can NOT be ordered from the factory.

The pouch is black with a red flap which carries a chrome-plated prancing horse.

New and unused.

1927 - 1932 Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 / 1750 / 1900 Pistons, Conrods & Big-End Bearings

This is a vintage 1927 - 1932 set of 6 connecting rods, 6 big-end bearings and 6 pistons from an Alfa Romeo 6C 1900.

The conrods and bearings will fit all three models, the pistons are for the 1900 but can be machined down to fit the 6C1750 as well but won't fit the 1500.

I acquired this set from a 6C1900 owner who is extensively modifying his engine and sold this set to fund the modifications.

Please note that this is ONLY available as a set (it won't be broken up!) and that I preferably would sell this of a 6C1500 / 6C1750 / 6C1900 owner to keep his (or her!) car running.

The 6C series was of course extensively raced under leadership of a young Enzo Ferrari.

Only 1 set available.

We are inviting realistic offers on this set. Please contact us through info@ferraristuff.com if you are interested or have questions.
