Newly arrived Vintage Original 1950 24 Hours of Le Mans Program Booklet

Vintage 1950 Le Mans 24 Hours Race Program.

Near mint condition!

A GREAT set from only the second post-WW2 running of the 24 Heures du Mans.

The colour illustration on the cover is from the hand of Andre Galland, who also drew the 1949 version and a good number of cover illustrations for the pre-war programs.

1950 was a year of renewal at Le Mans. The facilities that were destroyed during the war and were rebuilt for the 1949 race are highlighted on the cover of the 1950 program.

Clearly visible are the right-hand turn passing under the footbridge and the pressbox on the inside of that turn.

This set consists of the following:

  • The program booklet itself in amazing condition. If it weren't for some very minor shelf wear to the cover, which is visible in the photographs, it would be in dead mint condition
  • The complementary, loose, track map in dead mint condition. When was the last time that you saw one of those???
  • The blank "Tableau de Pointage", the lap timing sheet, still attached to the original staple in the booklet

All in all, the best 1950 Le Mans program that we were ever able to offer for sale!

The booklet measures some 10.5 x 25 cm and contains 164 pages filled to the brim with information of the cars, the drivers, previous editions of the race, the track and of course great contemporary advertising.

The race was quite a disaster for Ferrari, following the glorious victory of Luigi Chinetti the previous year, as none of the 5 entered Ferraris made it to the finish...

The race was won by Louis and Jean-Louis Rosier in their Talbot Lago T26GS with a total of 256 laps to their name.

For the full results of this race, please see 24 Heures du Mans results 1950.
