1992 Ferrari 456GT Carpet Sample Set

carpetsample
!

Circa 1992 Ferrari Carpet Sample Set.

Ferrari have always supplied their Sales / Showroom personnel with material to make the choice of car specification easy for any prospective owner.

These items are probably the most seen and most used of their “tools-of-trade”, but not ones that are readily available to the Ferrari enthusiast.

This item is the Ferrari Carpet Brochure (or Swatch) of sample pieces that a Salesman would have used to specify the carpet trim on a new Ferrari 456 GT.

The samples all measure 25cm x 17cm (or 10 x 6.5 inches), bound in matching leather, and are held together by the old method of “screw and stud”, previously used on parts manuals.

All of the pieces (6 in total) are in very good condition and are listed on a front sheet as:

  • Biondo 85
  • Grigio Fumo 86
  • Otranto 87
  • Verde Foresta 88
  • Terracotta 89
  • Nero 90

In good, hardly used, condition.

Vintage 1954 GOLD medal, awarded to Mike Hawthorn, 1954 Grand Prix of Syracuse

Hawthorn04
!

1954 Gold Medal, Syracuse Grand Prix, awarded to Mike Hawthorn.

We are pleased to be able to offer for sale this absolutely unique piece of motoring history:

This medal was given to Mike Hawthorn for competing in the 1954 Syracuse Grand Prix.

Mike drove a Ferrari 625 in this Grand Prix which he crashed and he sustained serious burns to his arms and legs in this accident.

This is what Road & Track wrote about the accident in 1954:

"....Marimon in a Maserati drove too close to the right side of the track and sent up a shower of hay. Blinded by the flying chaff, the second place car, a Ferrari with Hawthorn driving, crashed against the safety wall and the car caught fire. Gonzales, about seven feet behind Hawthorn, piled into the Englishman's car, careened and went into the wall. Both cars were destroyed by the flames and Hawthorn was taken to the hospital....".

Shown below is a photo from R&T of the scene of the accident.

This medal went straight from Mike's estate, in 1959, to an important collector in Switzerland from whom we acquired it directly.

A truly unique opportunity to acquire a piece of memorabilia from Hawthorn's personal possession.

Measures approximately 1.25 inches in diameter and is made of 18 carat gold.

Only 1 available.

Price on request through info@ferraristuff.com.

Ferrari 1947 - 1997 50 Years Celebrations Participants Postcard Album

50yearspca
!

Ferrari 1947 - 1997 Participants Postcard Album.

This is a VERY rare item from the 50 years Ferrari celebrations back in 1997.

As you might know, only invited guests could attend the celebrations, amongst which a round tour along historically important Ferrari landmarks such as the factory, Enzo Ferrari's house, the Fiorano track etc.

Each participant was given one of these albums, empty, and at each of the stops a special postcard could be collected which was supposed to be put in this album.

Understandably, not everybody completed the tour and those who did will of course not easily part with their album but this album is complete with ALL 18 postcards!

The album measures some 9 x 8 inches or 23 x 21 cm.

1964 Bill of sale, bill of lading etc. on Ferrari 250LM S/N 5901

5901-01
!

This is a set of documents pertaining to # 5901 Ferrari 250LM.

The set consists of the following documents:

1)
Bill of sale (invoice) from SEFAC Ferrari to Luigi Chinetti Motors Inc, dated November 14, 1964. The invoice specifies the car as follows:

"FERRARI" 250 Le Mans automobile, bodied Competition Berlinetta, complete with five wire wheels and tires, set of tools - ENGINE No 5901 CHASSIS No 5901
Color: China Red
Upholstery: Blue

F.O.B. Genoa
Including a crate with 4 sprare wheels
Including a carton with spare parts such as valves, valve springs, gaskets etc.

The prices have been erased probably because this invoice has been "living" with the car for quite a while and somebody didn't want everybody to know what Chinetti paid for the car to Ferrari.

It is stamped "Copia", a long declaration + "SEFAC S.p.a." and carries a signature. It comes on original Ferrari invoice letterhead.

2)
The second document is the original bill of lading for this car.

It is dated November 16, 1964 and shows that the car traveled on the "Maria Costa" to New York. Pier of loading was Leghorn. The car weighed in at 950 KGS, the crate was 34 KGS and the carton with spare parts was 10 KGS.

It is stamped in red "ORIGINAL".

3)
The third document is the shipping notice from SEFAC to Luigi Chinetti Motors.

It comes on SEFAC letterhead, is dated November 20, 1964 and advises Chinetti that car # 5901 has been shipped from Livorno on the M/N Maria Costa on November 20, 1964 and that it concerns the "Ferrari tipo 250/LM telaio No 5901".

Has handwritten "5901" in black fountain pen ink on it, purple stamp "No 35790", purple "SEFAC S.p.A." stamp and is signed in blue fountain pen ink.

4)
The fourth document is the original "Vehicle invoice" from "Kirk F. White Motorcars Inc." in Philadelphia, PA to William (Bill) B Rearden Jr. in Villanova, PA.

It is dated June 29, 1970 and shows that Bill Rearden paid $ 16,500.00 for the car and traded in his Ferrari 330P S/N 0822 for $ 12,000.00.

The invoice carrier number "0333) and has a handwritten note from Kirk White on it that says "Addl $ 10.00 Tag Fee Paid K.W.".

5)
The fifth items is a set of period Xexox copies of the SEFAC invoice, the shipping notice, the Kirk White invoice plus another small Xerox copy on pinkish paper that lists a number of the owners:

Raymond J. Augusterfer from Philadelphia, PA
George Arents from Warren, Vermont
Luigi Chinetti Motors Inc.
Walter G. Young

After Walter Young, the car went to Kirk White who sold it to Bill Rearden.

This last document lists the car as being a "275 LM" but does mention the correct chassis number "5901".

We are entertaining sensible offers on this set that reflect the historical importance of these documents.

We can be contacted at info@FerrariStuff.com.

montlhery1000km1962
!

1962 Journalist's record of the 1000 KM de Paris - Linas Montlhery.

Here we have a pretty unique set of documentation... it is the complete set of items collected and drawn up during the 1962 1000KM race at Paris by German motorsports journalist Alfred Brinkmann.

Not less than 16 (!) Ferrari 250 GTO's in the entry list for the event and amazingly enough, the race was won by Pedro & Ricardo Rodriguez on... Ferrari GTO!

The set consists of the following:

  • Near mint race program book (some handwritten notes inside)
  • 2 color photos + 1 color slide of the # 16 Ferrari 250 GTO (S/N 3445GT) of Nino Vaccarella & Carlo Abate up on the banking
  • Press card
  • A B&W (vintage) photo of the start
  • Color photo + color slide of the pits area with the # 11 Ferrari 250 GTO (S/N 3647GT) of John Surtees & Mike Parkes being refueled
  • A color slide of the Rogriguez brothers in the winning # 1 Ferrari 250 GTO (S/N 3987GT), looks to be before the race
  • A stencilled sheet from the organizers with the best lap times in each class with handwritten notes by Brinkmann
  • A B&W photo of the Rodriguez brothers looking on while their Ferrari is being tended to in the pits
  • A B&W photo of the # 16 Ferrari GTO (S/N 3445GT) being tended to in the pits
  • A stencilled sheet from the organizers with the final standings with lots of handwritten notes by Brinkmann on the back

Even though the entry list lists 16 Ferrari GTO's the reality was somewhat different...

A HIGHLY interesting set!

Original 1992 40 Years Ferrari at Garage Francorchamps FF40 Flag

FF40FLAG
!

Newly arrived Original 1992 40 Years Ferrari at Garage Francorchamps FF40 Flag

Original 1992 40 Years Ferrari at Garage Francorchamps FF40 Flag.

This is a genuine FF40 flag which was shown at the 40 years Garage Francorchamps festivities on September 24 / 27, 1992.

Grarage Francorchamps was the Belgian Ferrari importer, headed by the late Jacques Swaters who "accidentely" became Ferrari importer in 1952 and at one time accounted for over 10% of the total Ferrari sales world wide!

On said dates, the 40 years of Ferrari importership were celebrated in grand Style with many of the great names in Ferrari history present. The event became known as "FF40".

This flag, which is in mint condition, is a great memento from those celebrations and prominently features the Ferrari prancing horse and the now iconic FF40 logo.

It measures some 140 x 100 cm (56 x 40 inches) and his two black straps at the top and top at the bottom in order to be able to attach it to a flagpost.

Only 1 available.
