Vintage 1952 Photo - Alberto Ascari on Ferrari 500 - V Gran Premio dell'Autodromo di Monza 1952.
This is a vintage & original photo, taken by an unknown photographer, of Alberto Ascari in his Ferrari 500 being push-started from the pits during the 1952 Formula 2 Grand Prix at Monza.
Although Alberto won the first heat, the camshafts of his Ferrari 500 failed in the second heat which effectively put him out of the race.
The photo measures some 9.5 x 7 inches (24 x 18 cm) and is black & white.
This is a vintage print, i.e. printed shortly after the original image was captured on film.
Only 1 available.

Vintage June 1955 Domenica del Corriere on the Alberto Ascari deadly crash.
This is a vintage & original June 5 1955 issue of Italian magazine "Domenica del Corriere" which pays attention to the untimely death of Italian racing ace Alberto Ascari.
On May 26, 1955 Alberto tried out the Ferrari 750 Monza (S/N 0562M) which he was to share with Eugenio Castellotti at the Autodromo di Monza. In the third lap, the car started to skid inexplicably, somersaulted and Alberto was slung from the car onto the track where he died a couple of minutes later.
The (fast!) corner where this accident happened, the "Curva di Vialone", was later renamed "Variante Ascari" in his honor.
Since there is no photographic account of the accident itself or the aftermath, the magazine had to make do with a more than excellent and very dramatic artist's impression which shows Alberto being slung from the car. That image is used on a full page which makes it excellently suited for framing.
Furthermore, there is a full page account of the accident including drawings of the path of the car and it pays attention to earlier, similar, accidents and the crash of Alberto's father, Antonio Ascari, at Montlhery in 1925.
Excellent condition for its age!

2 Vintage 1958 photos of Mike Hawthorn on Ferrari 246, Race of two Worlds, Monza.
This lot consists of two photographs taken in the paddock preceding the 1958 Race of Two Worlds (or Monzanapolis) on June 29, 1958.
The first photograph shows Mike in his # 12 Ferrari 246 and the second shows the same car surrounded by the crowd.
The race of Two Worlds was basically an exhibition event to show both American and European teams to the public and was held in 1957 & 1958 at the banked track of Monza.
These photographs date from the 1958 event and quite an event it was for Ferrari!
In the first heat (of 3) Luigi Musso succumbed to the methanol fumes and handed his car over to Mike Hawthorn in lap 27. Musso returned to the wheel in the last lap and brought the car home in 6th place.
In the third heat, Mike suffered the same fate as Luigi did in the first and handed the car over to Phil Hill who brought the car up to third place before handing it back to Mike again.
All in all, not a great success for Ferrari!
These are vintage photos, i.e. they were printed shortly after the image was captured on film.
Each photo measures some 10 x 7 cm or 4 x 2.75 inches and are in excellent condition.
The backs carry some notes but NO photographer's stamp.
Only 1 set available.

Please note that this poster is as shown in the pictures and it has clearly lead a rough life... It has been taped to a wall (which has left tape residue), small parts are missing, text has been "repaired" with a marker etc. Just look at the pictures and you'll understand what we mean.
Nevertheless, or probably thanks to its rough appearance, it oozes patina, just like an old racing car, which gives it an unrepeatable charm.
We have adjusted the price to reflect its condition.
This poster will be shipped, rolled, in a sturdy tube to prevent damage in transit.
This poster is VERY scarce and we only have 1 available.
