1958 Plaque, Portugal Grand Prix, given to Mike Hawthorn.
We are pleased to be able to offer for sale this fabulous piece of motoring history:
This plaque was given to Mike Hawthorn for competing in the 1958 Portugal Grand Prix at Porto race track.
Mike drove a Ferrari 246 and set the second fastest qualifying time behind Stirling Moss in his Vanwall. During the race, Mike set the fastest lap time (almost 2 seconds faster than Moss's pole time!) but still came in second after Moss.
This was of course all in Mike's Championship Winning year and it was the second to last time that Mike would race in a Grand Prix...
This is what Mike said after the race:
"I was upset to find that my race number was 22. Both Pete [Collins] and Luigi [Musso] had been killed on cars with 2 as their number, and the sight of 22 on mine really put the wind up me. I rushed off to Tavoni and asked if I might have 24, which was Taffy's number, and he and Taffy both agreed; only the numbers were changed, not the actual cars."
This medal went straight from Mike's estate, in 1959, to an important collector from whom we acquired it.
A truly unique opportunity to acquire a piece of memorabilia from Hawthorn's personal possession.
It measures approximately 3.4 x 1.5 inches.

1)The engine. Measures 18 x 12 cm (7 x 5 inches) and shows a detailed view of what looks to be the complete (working?) engine. The engine was originally photographed in an engine stand but the stand itself has been whited out (probably for publication in a magazine).
2)The space frame. Measures 18 x 13 cm (7 x 5 inches) and shows the complete space frame with front & rear suspension, pedals, coolant tank but no steering shaft and no fuel tanks.
3)Shot # 1 of the mock-up. Side view. Not entirely sure what the mock-up is made of or which scale it is. The wheels look to be made of turned wood but the body surface shows severe cracks (was it covered in some kind of clay for detailed modeling?). Measures 18 x 12 cm (7 x 5 inches).
4)Shot # 2 of the mock-up. Three quarter rear view. Measures 18 x 13 cm (7 x 5 inches).
All 4 photos carry the stamp of "Foto G. Mantovani" in Modena, Italy. In addition, they carry a stamp "Photo by Gordon Wilkins" but this was merely put there (back in 1961) to mark those copies as his property; the photographer is Mantovani.
Wilkins worked, amongst others, as a journalist and TV personality and these photographs originate from his archive.
A MUST-HAVE for the true 156 Sharknose aficionado!
Kimi Raikkonen signed Ferrari Photo 2007.
A great shot of Kimi, signed in person by 2007 World Champ!
It measures approximately 15 x 10 cm or 6 x 4 inches.
This is a very rare opportunity to own a great item autographed by new Formula 1 World Champion and items like this will surely appreciate in value.
Original Ferrari F1 V10 crankshaft.
This is an original Ferrari Formula One V-10 engine crankshaft.
The crankshaft does NOT carry any stamped numbers or whatsoever but is a Ferrari original which I believe to be from either a 2000 Ferrari F1-2000 or 2001 Ferrari F2001 engine.
This crankshaft is NOT fit for use anymore so it has to be regarded solely as a diplay and conversation piece.
