Vintage 1963 Lorenzo Bandini signed Solitude Rennen photo (BRM)

Lorenzo Bandini signed B&W photo, taken at the 1963 Solitude Rennen in Germany.

This relatively small photo.

The photo shows Bandini in his "Italian Red" BRM P578 with which he would finish 4th in the race.

The photo was taken by Jochen Gruber and he confirmed to us that he took this picture in 1963 and had Bandini sign it for him the next year, 1964, again at the Solitude Rennen. In 1964 Bandini attended the race with his team mate John Surtees, both Ferrari factory drivers at that time.

It is a small photo card, measuring some 3.75 x 2.8 inches and has been signed in ballpoint on the front side.

Excellent condition.

Vintage Original 1963 Monaco Grand Prix Poster Counter Top

Vintage Original 1963 Monaco Grand Prix Counter-Top Poster.

Here we have a VERY rare Monaco Grand Prix poster...

These posters could be seen hanging throughout the principality of Monaco prior to the race in 1963 but this one is a little more special...

This particular one is executed as a counter-top version and it is the very first one in this execution that we ever managed to lay our hands on.

The artwork is by French artist Michel Beligond and shows a number of F1 cars racing along the harbor of Monte-Carlo.

The race was won by Graham Hill on BRM, followed by his team mate Ritchie Ginther with Bruce McLaren on Cooper-Climax completing the podium.

Ferrari entered a Ferrari 156 Sharknose for both John Surtees and Willy Mairesse. John brought his home in 4th place, after having set fastest lap in the race, while Willy dropped out of the race in lap 37 due to gearbox problems.

As visible in the pictures, this unusual table top Monaco "poster" has been maltreated severely in its past so it is in far from mint condition but it simply oozes patina... For the exact condition, please check the photographs.

The dimensions are some 59 x 40 cm or 23.5 x 16 inches.

We have, of course, only 1 available.

Scarfiotti was partnered with "Wild" Willy Mairesse and unfortunately, the car was crashed on the 4th lap.

The car, bearing # 172 in this race, is S/N 0812 which survives to this day.

The print measures some 25 x 18 cm or 10 x 7 inches.

It is in near mint condition.

Vintage 1963 Photo Sequence of Ferrari 250 GTO S/N 3647GT crashed at the Tourist Trophy Goodwood

Vintage 1963 Photo Sequence, Ferrari 250 GTO S/N 3647GT, crashed at the Tourist Trophy, Goodwood.

This is a vintage 1963 photo sequence of Tommy Hitchcock just having crashed the Ferrari 250 GTO of Prince Zourab Tchkotoua during the 1963 Tourist Trophy at Goodwood.

Hitchcock did more or less the same thing some 3 months earlier when he put the same car on its roof during the Nurburgring 1000 KM.

The car in question is S/N 3647 which of course survives to this day.

All 6 photos are vintage prints, i.e. printed shortly after the original image was captured on film and were shot by the same photographer.

Each photo measures some 22 x 16.5 cm or 8.7 x 6.5 inches.

The back carries the photographer's stamp along with a lot of scribbling.

We'll give a short description of each of the photos:

  • The car on it's side in the barriers with the first rescue men arriving on the scene. The car is blowing a lot of steam and Hitchcock is trapped inside.
  • More aid has arrived and the first attempts to put the car back on its wheels are being made. Hitchcock is still inside and the engine appears to be running still (straw particles flying up under the car).
  • The car starts to roll back on its wheels. Engine still running and a white liquid dripped onto the left side rear tire. Hitchcock still inside...
  • The cars is back on its wheels and Hitchcock has been dragged from the wreckage. Now the severe damage to the upper structure of the car is clearly visible.
  • Hitchcock is sitting upright next to the wreckage. The car is still blowing steam.
  • Hitchcock is being hand-carried away (NO stretcher!) and a large piece of Plexiglas (?), probably the rear window, is being picked up.

Truly a unique set of contemporary "documents" on a very important Ferrari and a unique happening!
