Vintage 1955 Le Mans Mini Race Poster.

June 11 & 12, 1955.

With the prices of an original 1955 poster going into the many thousands of US$ now, this vintage original mini poster might be an excellent alternative for your collection.

These mini posters carry two arabic gum stripes on the front so it could be attached to the inside of a (car) window.

EXTREMELY SCARCE!

It measures approximately:
5 x 3.5 inches
13 x 8.5 cm

Mint condition for its age!

The 1955 edition of the 24 Heures du Mans is of course most infamous for the horrendous accident with Pierre Levegh's Mercedes which crashed into the main grandstand.

The race was won by Mike Hawthorn and Ivor Bueb in their Jaguar D-Type (S/N XKD505) with a total of 307 laps to their name.

The event was equally dramatic for Ferrari as NONE of the 5 entered cars made it to the finish...

The booklet measures some 10.5 x 25 cm, counts 148 pages and is filled to the brim with information of the cars, the drivers, previous editions of the race, the track and of course great contemporary advertising.

The design of the 1955 program cover came from world-renowned motorsport artist Geo Ham who opted for the symbolic approach. The place is the Les Hunaudieres straight with the major contenders (Ferrari, Jaguar and Cunningham) storming towards the Mulsanne corner with the pedal to the metal...

Newly arrived Vintage Original 1956 24 Hours of Le Mans Program Autographed by Peter Collins and Ken Wharton

Vintage Original 1956 24 Hours of Le Mans Program Autographed by Peter Collins and Ken Wharton.

Here we have a VERY special 1956 Le Mans program...

Apart from being quite a rarity in its own right, this one was signed on the cover by racing greats Peter Collins and Ken Wharton!

Peter Collins (1931 - 1958) was teamed up with Sterling Moss and the duo drove their Ecurie Ecosse entered Aston-Martin DB3 S to a second place overall, a mere 1 lap behind the winning Jaguar D-Type of Ron Flockhart and Ninian Sanderson.
Peter signed the cover in pencil.

Ken Wharton (1916 - 1957) was teamed up with Jack Fairman in a works Jaguar D-Type but unfortunately, he never got to drive it in the race as Jack crashed the car already in lap 3...
Ken signed the cover in blue ballpoint.

Neither of these two men would survive this race for more than 2,5 years and both would get killed in a Ferrari...

The booklet measures some 13 x 23.5 cm and contains 188 pages filled to the brim with information of the cars, the drivers, previous editions of the race, the track and of course great contemporary advertising.

It does have a fair amount of wear and tear, as can be seen in the photos, and yes, it would have been a lot more expensive if it was in mint condition...

The race was won by Ron Flockhart and Ninian Sanderson in their Jaguar D-Type with a total of 300 laps to their name.

For the full results of this race, please see 24 Heures du Mans results 1956.

These "Lap Timing Sheets" were sold separately at the racetrack as an addition to the program booklet and could be used to keep track of the positions of the individual cars during the race.

This particular one is in more than excellent condition with only some minor scribbling on it in green byro as visible in the photos.

It is the elaborate version which folds out to 4 times the original width.

Very scarce as most of them were tossed away after the race or disappeared into the mists of time.

It measures some 10.5 cm x 27.5 cm and unfolds to 42 x 27.5 cm.

Phil Hill signed 1959 Fuller Brush Catalog

Phil Hill signed 1959 Fuller Brush Catalog.

In 1959 Ferrari enthusiast Howard Fuller, owner of the Fuller Brush Company, issued a special catalog to honour up-and-coming man Phil Hill.

The catalog contains many photo's of Phil racing Ferraris, at the Ferrari factory, tinkering with his cars and during leisure time.

These catalogs are now very much collector's items and a relatively rare find in mint condition.

Here we have a totally mint examply that was mailed out to Mr. Eugene H. Baker of Landisville, PA, USA.

Mr. Baker had the catalog signed by Phil Hill shortly thereafter. Phil used a black ballpoint for the signature.

Truly a rare find with this vintage autograph !

Only 1 available of course as every autographed item is unique and we provide a Certificate of Authenticity with it which guarantees that this is a genuine signature.

Vintage photo of Phil Hill on Ferrari 246, International Trophy, 1960.

This is a GREAT shot of Phil Hill in his Ferrari 246 en route to 5th place overall in the 1960 running of the BRDC International Trophy at Silverstone.

The car in question is S/N 0003 which was laid up after an extensive racing career in the mid 1960's and now seems to reside with Bernie Ecclestone.

There are no clues to who shot the photo nor are there any copyright notices on the back of it.

This is a vintage photo, i.e. it was printed shortly after the image was captured on film.

Dimensions: approximately 4.5 x 3.5 inches or 11 x 9 cm.

Vintage Original 1961 Counter Top Monaco Grand Prix Race Poster

mon1961
!

Vintage Original 1961 Monaco Grand Prix Counter-Top Poster.

An a very simple and relatively small but oh so rare poster...

These posters could be seen hanging throughout the principality of Monaco prior to the race in 1961 but this one is a little more special...

This particular one is executed as a counter-top version and it is the very first one in this execution that we ever managed to lay our hands on.

This poster features the best logo we have ever seen with the racing car and "MONACO" perfectly integrated into it!

Rumour has it that this poster was banned by the organizers as they deemed the black background to be too morbid at that time. Maybe the rumour is true... but we don't have knowledge of an alternative poster for the 1961 Monaco Grand Prix... so...

The race was, famously, won by Stirling Moss on Lotus 18 ahead of Richie Ginther, Phil Hill and Wolfgang Berghe von Trips, all on Ferrari 156 Sharknose.

Considering its age, it is over half a century old, we dare to call this unusual Monaco "poster" to be in mint condition.

9.8 x 12.5 inches or some 25 x 30 cm.

ENORMOUS Vintage 1961 photo of the Grand Prix of Italy at the Autodromo di Monza

monza02
!

This is a vintage 1961 B&W photo of the pack coming through the Parabolica turn during the 1961 Grand Prix of Italy at the Autodromo di Monza.

The photo shows not less than FIVE of the famous Ferrari 156 Sharknose cars in 1 single view!

This race would of course go down in hisory as one of the most dramatic ever as seconds after this photo was taken, the Ferrari of Wolfgang von Trips and the Lotus of Jim Clark would get tangled up and von Trips would lose his life in the resulting crash.

Going through the cars in the picture, starting at the bottom, we see the following drivers:

It is amazing to see that only 2 out of the above 9 drivers are still alive today...

This photo measures a staggering 12 x 9.5 inches.

It is in mint condition for its age.

Please note that this photo is too big for our scanner so we had to digitally "stich" two scans together to be able to present the total image. The horizontal line at the bottom of the image is a result of that. This is NOT visible in the actual photo!

The back carries the photographer's stamp.

Vintage 1962 COLOR photo of Ferrari 330 TRI LM SN 0808 at Le Mans 1962.

This is a vintage 1962 colour photo of the factory entered Ferrari 330 TRI LM of Olivier Gendebien and Phil Hill at the very start of the 1962 running of the 24 Heures du Mans.

The car, which bears race number 6 here is S/N 0808 (previously 0780TR, a 250 TR 60, which frame was lengthened, a Fantuzzi body was mounted and equipped with a 4 Liter 390 HP V12 engine) and which seems to reside in the USA now.

This is a vintage 1962 colour photo of the factory entered Ferrari 330 TRI LM of Olivier Gendebien and Phil Hill en route to victory in the 1962 running of the 24 Heures du Mans.

In the photo, we see Olivier getting a hand to climb over the pit wall after his stint. Taking all aspects into account (like the shadows, the dirt on the car etc) this photo was taken around 11 o'clock in the morning of June 24, 1962 (how lovely it is to discover such details on a COLOR photo!).

The car, which bears race number 6 here is S/N 0808 (previously 0780TR, a 250 TR 60, which frame was lengthened, a Fantuzzi body was mounted and equipped with a 4 Liter 390 HP V12 engine) and which seems to reside in the USA now.

This is a vintage 1962 photo of the factory entered Ferrari 330 TRI LM of Olivier Gendebien and Phil Hill en route to victory and approaching the braking area for Mulsanne corner, shortly after having negotiated the Hundieres bump (which was still "ernormous" at that time) and about to overtake / outbrake the C.D. Panhard Dyna of Andre Guilhaudin & Alain Bertaut which would finish in 16th spot in the 1962 running of the 24 Heures du Mans.

The car, which bears race number 6 here is S/N 0808 (previously 0780TR, a 250 TR 60, which frame was lengthened, a Fantuzzi body was mounted and equipped with a 4 Liter 390 HP V12 engine) and which seems to reside in the USA now.
