Vintage 1954 Photo, Ferrari 375 MM S/N 0380AM, stranded at 24 Heures du Mans.

This is a vintage 1954 photo of the Ferrari 375 MM of Conte Innocente Biaggio and Porfirio Rubirosa, stranded on the sandbanks of the Tertre Rouge turn during the 1954 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

I believe it was Rubirosa driving the car when he ran it into the sandbanks, coming out of Tertre Rouge and heading towards the Hunaudieres straight on lap 5.

The car could not be retrieved from the sandbanks so the Le Mans adventure ended there and then.

This is a vintage print, i.e. printed shortly after the original image was captured on film, most probably made by a photographer employed by an advertising agency that took care of the advertising for oil company Motul at the 1954 Le Mans race as this photo came from a series of photos, all carrying captions relating to how the Motul banners were seen in the press and on TV.

Also this photo has a caption in French that reads more or less as follows:

"The Ferrari # 18 tries to dislogde at Tertre Rouge turn ahead of the straight, right in front of the MOTUL banner. (this banner has been televized)"

The car in question has most probably been scrapped in the late 1960's.

The photo, including caption, measures some 5 x 3.5 inches and is in mint condition bar some glue residue from an album on the back.
