This is a photo that was probably shot late November 1957 somewhere in California, USA when John von Neumann had just taken possession of the car (please not the striking similarity in condition to the pictures of the car in the December 1957 issue of Sport Auto Italiana that we have for sale).

The dent in the nose could very well be transportation damage from being airlifted to New York from Italy.

Van Neumann raced the car extensively in 1958 and 1959 after which it was sold on.

I was told that this car is quite unique as it is the only one with a detachable nose.

The photo measures some 10 x 8 inches and is in excellent condition bar a small corner which was torn off but this does not affect the image, just the white border.
