Original 1995 Monaco Grand Prix Poster - Limited Edition

Original 1995 Monaco Grand Prix Poster - Limited Edition

Here we have an original 1995 Monaco GP Race Poster "Hors Commerce".

This is one of the original posters that was actually hanging in the Principality of Monaco to advertise the 1995 Monaco Grand Prix which was held on May 25 - May 28 of that year.

Each year, the ACM (Automobile Club de Monaco, organizing body of the Monaco Grand Prix) issues a limited number of posters and distributes these amongst the hotels, cafés, restaurants and shops of Monte-Carlo with the intention that the shopkeepers etc actually display the posters to advertise the event.

To prevent these posters from being sold before the event, and thus rendering them useless as a publicity tool, these are marked on the back with the text "EXEMPLAIRE NON DESTINÉ A LA VENTE" which translates into as much as "Not for resale".

Logically, these posters are much more rare than the "normal" event posters which could be bought by the public before and during the race.

This particular one is one of the rare limited edition posters and carries the above-mentioned text on the back and has seen some proper use, which is visible in the photos, light fraying to the edges and knocks to the corners.

So, it is most definitely NOT in mint condition but the photographs are of the actual poster up for sale so please be your own judge on its condition.

As usual in those years, production of the poster was in the (capable) hand of the AIP advertising agency from Monte Carlo.

The image of the poster shows an artist's Impression of Michael Schumacher in his 1994 Benetton B194 # 5 thundering his way to victory in the 1994 race. The drawing was from the hand of Luc de Clerfayt.

The copyright was retained by the (no longer existing) FOPA, predecessor of the FOM (Formula One Management).

It measures approximately 24 x 16 inches or 60 x 40 cm.

The 1995 Monaco Grand Prix was again won by Michael Schumacher on Benetton, followed by Damon Hill on Williams and Gerhard Berger on Ferrari 412 T2 completing the podium.

The second Ferrari 412T2 was for Jean Alesi who spun off track in lap 41.

Only 1 available.

This poster will be shipped rolled, in a sturdy tube.
