Vintage 1952 Photo of Ferrari 225 Sport Vignale Berlinetta 0178ED at the start of the Mille Miglia

!

Vintage 1952 Photo of Ferrari 225 Sport Vignale Berlinetta 0178ED at the start of the Mille Miglia.

This is a genuine & vintage 1952 photo of the Ferrari 225 Sport Vignale Berlinetta 0178ED of Count Antonio Sterzi before the start of the Mille Miglia in Brescia on May 3, 1952.

If I am not mistaken, we see the Count himself at the wheel in this photo.

Sterzi partnered up with Nino Rovelli for the race but unfortunately the duo didn't make it to the finish line...

Apparently, the car was in a fire in the 1950's after which the engine and body got separated but both survive, albeit in different parts of the world.

The photo measures some 7 x 5 inches (18 x 12.5 cm) and is matt, somewhat Sepia-toned black & white. It carries NO copyright notice.

This is a vintage 1952 print, i.e. printed shortly after the original image was captured on film.

Only 1 available.

Newly arrived Vintage 1952 Photo of Ferrari 225 Sport Vignale Spider 0194ET at the start of the Mille Miglia

Vintage 1952 Photo of Ferrari 225 Sport Vignale Berlinetta 0194ET at the start of the Mille Miglia in Brescia.

This is a genuine and vintage 1952 photo of the Scuderia Ferrari factory entered Ferrari 225 Sport Vignale Berlinetta 0194ET of Piero Scotti and Giulio Cantini before the start of the Mille Miglia in Brescia on May 3, 1952.

In the background we see the Nr 606 Ferrari 225 Sport of Mario and Franco Bornigia which remains unidentified to this day... and ahead of 606 we see the Nr 533, the Ferrari 225 Sport Vignale Berlinetta S/N 0164ED of Franco Bordoni and "Geronimo" who would finish 10th overall and Second in Class.

The first two cars didn't make it to the finish line...

0194ET and 0164ED survive to this day, apparently in the same collection in the USA.

The photo measures some 6.75 x 5 inches (17.5 x 12.5 cm) and is matt, somewhat Sepia-toned black & white. It carries NO copyright notice.

This is a vintage 1952 print, i.e. printed shortly after the original image was captured on film.

Only 1 available.

Vintage 1955 Mille Miglia photo Ferrari 118 LM S/N 0484LM and Maserati 300S S/N 3054 Taruffi / Perdisa

0484LM-01
!

This is a vintage 1955 photo of Piero Taruffi in his # 727 Ferrari 118LM (S/N 0484LM) chasing Cesare Perdisa in his # 728 Maserati 300S Fantuzzi (S/N 3054) during the 1955 Mille Miglia.

Given the fact that the startnumber indicates the actual starting time (i.e. 727 started at 7.27 AM; 728 at 7.28 AM) Taruffi already made up 1 minute on Perdisa so this must be rather early on in the race and Perdisa even finds time to wave at the crowd.

Eventually none of the two cars & drivers would make it to the finish; Taruffi dropping out after exactly 5 hours, 4 minutes and 54 seconds with a broken oil pump and Perdisa a mere 15 minutes later for reasons unknown to us.

Both cars surive to this day.

The photo measures some 22 x 17 cm or 8.7 x 6.7 inches and carries the stamp of the photographer on the back.

This is a vintage photo, i.e. it was printed shortly after the image was captured on film.

Only 1 available.
