La Scuderia Ferrari 1929 - 1939 by Orisini and Zagari.

Publishing date: 1979
Binding: Hardbound with dustjacket
Pages: 432
Text: Italian
Edition: First, 1979
Publisher: Editoriale Olimpia

Peerless coverage of the important 1929-1939 period of the Scuderia Ferrari racing team.

Superbly illustrated throughout.

In very good condition, some foxing / spotting to front endpapers, spine of dust jacket lightly faded, small repaired tear to dust jacket at top of spine and the usual slight discoloration on the spine of the dustjacket.

Please note that the justjacket has an additional plastic cover which can be easily removed but gives some reflections in the photographs which may look like discolorations but are not.

A very rare book and often considered the holy grail of Ferrari books.

Italian version which is much better and more elaborately illustrated than the, later, English version.

Text: English

Imagine, then, the scene in 1961.

The technical advance generated by the great marques throughout the 1950s has blossomed into the early '60s to create a new and exciting period in motor racing.

Ferrari are poised, expectant but uncertain, with their first rear-engined sports-racing car as the new season approaches.

For them, the rear engined era has arrived...

The Ferrari Dino SPs, the first-ever rear-engined sports prototypes from Maranello, went almost straight from the drawing board to some tryly remarkable performances on the world's racing circuits, carrying many records with them.

How this was brought about is the theme of John Godfrey's deeply reserached book; himself a former owner of one of these rare and celebrated machines, he is well qualified to write with authority and warmth an account of a group of cars that were not only remarkalble in themselves, but also had a lasting influence on motor racing history.

Good condition for its age.

1919 was the year in which Ferrari began driving racing cars and Zagato founded his couchworks, and from that moment their paths were to cross on several occasion.

Every time Zagato got his hands on a Ferrari chassis, even without the official blessing of Maranello, he succeeded in building a beautiful car.

Even today these “Ferrari by Zagato” are shrouded in a certain air of mistery – not even the coachworks possessed documentation.

This book has bridged the gap.

Mike Hawthorn Champion Year My battle for the Drivers World Title 4th Edition 1959.

4th Edition 1959.

3 Days after the manuscript was delivered to the Publishers, Mike Hawthorn was killed on the Guilford by-pass.

It tells the story of the 1958 season when Hawthorn became the first British World Champion. Ironically one of the low points of the year was the death of Hawthorn’s great friend Peter Collins.

Truly it was a disastrous year for motor racing.

Fine condition for age with minor discolorization to the dust jacket.

A small sized (ca. 6 x 8.25 inches) booklet that list most of the know factory publucations between 1947 and 1996.

It claims to be "The first list of all Ferrari's publications" but we know that that claim is not entirely justified as new publications keep popping up. Nevertheless it shows a good account of the publications.

VERY scarce as it was never officially released in the book trade.
